Dental Implants

Permanent dental implants create beautiful smiles and worry-free, natural teeth for life.

If you have missing teeth or dentures, you may wish to consider dental implants to restore the full use of your teeth and to create a happy, confident smile.

At Medland Dental Centre we have been placing dental implants for almost 20 years with great success and patient satisfaction. Implants are made from precision-milled titanium over which is fitted either a crown, bridge or an implant-retained denture. This style of denture gives greater benefits over traditional dentures and patients tell us that their new teeth truly improve their lives! We are always delighted when our patients tell us they are able to bite in to an apple or a juicy steak for the first time in years.

Replacing a single, missing tooth with a dental implant is a straightforward process. It involves placing an implant in your missing tooth space and then attaching a crown to the implant. Your new crown is created in our on-site laboratory with your dentist and dental technician. The new crown looks like a beautiful, natural tooth and it will not move - you can brush your teeth and eat as normal.

Our co-location of services and team approach guarantees the perfection and precision of your dental implant. Dental implants require the same care and attention as natural teeth and when looked after properly will last for life. We are confident you will be happy with the results and your smile will exceed expectations.

How long do implants last?

Implants that are cared for with regular brushing, flossing and dental check-ups will last for many years without any problems. Many of our Medland patients have had their implants for over 20 years and they continue to be delighted with the results.

Do they work like normal teeth?

Yes. You can apply the same chewing and biting pressure as normal teeth without any discomfort or movement. Your teeth will look and feel great.

Is the procedure painful?

No. During the procedure the area around your new tooth will be anaesthetised and you will be offered relaxing nitrous oxide gas to create a pain-free and relaxing experience. Some mild tenderness around the new tooth may be felt for a day or two following the procedure.
